It seems Activision is just as worried about oversaturation of the Call of Duty franchise as many of the series' fans are, and are trying not to let it go the way of Guitar Hero.

Activision social media manager Dan Amrich has confirmed that Guitar Hero DLC will go on hiatus - possibly permanently - come the end of April.

Dan Winters of Activision, a publisher once thought of as "warm and cuddly", has said they "haven't changed!" They don't plot the downfall of gamers - honest!

They've "worked very hard" and still do to try and convince us they're friendly and approachable. It's no "monolithic empire"; they respect studio talent.

The plastic peripheral strumming of Guitar Hero isn't over after all as Activision's Dan Winters affirms it's just taking a break from the spotlight, it hasn't ended.

They'll "continue to sustain the channel" and keep the brand alive, but they're not making a "new one for next year, that's all." Guitar Hero 'ended' along with 500 jobs.

Activision-owned studios defend publisher, "not heavy-handed"

During the PAX East event in Boston over the weekend a number of internal Activision studio heads defended the giant publishing 'ogre'.

Vicarious Visions, High Moon and Raven all stood waving the Acti banner. They talk about less pressure, and support of the "independent studio model".
