Halo creative director leaves for start-up, 'wasn't excited anymore'
Ryan Payton is leaving Microsoft's 343 Industries and the Halo 4 project as he just "wasn't creatively excited" about the blockbuster franchise anymore.
The direction he wanted for Halo was "fundamentally different" and he blames his 'lack of credibility' for why he couldn't see his "crazy endeavor through."

At HaloFest during PAX Prime 2011, 343 Industries has revealed some details of Halo 4 for the first time, which will be the first part of what 343 called "The Reclaimer Trilogy", and will focus on the Forerunners.

During the Halo 4 panel at HaloFest, gamers were disappointed to learn that Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary Edition wouldn't include a code for a Halo 4 multiplayer beta, something that has become de rigueur in the Halo series, as well as others.

Microsoft has put a cheeky little cross-over in upcoming racer Forza Motorsport 4 from Turn 10 as it includes a Warthog from Halo 4 in the racers 'Autovista' mode.
Apparently the vehicles specs are also narrated by the AI Cortana as she regales some stories about it. The Halo 4 iteration of the Warthog won't be driveable.

There's nothing like a videogames convention to thump the corporate chest. Microsoft is keen to remind us all that their "ambition is to be the number one console".
Also they've got some games coming for Xbox 360 and Kinect over the next year. There's first and third-party goodness like Halo and Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
