Notch "politely but firmly" turned down Valve, Minecraft 'his chance to make a Valve'

Markus 'Notch' Persson was once ushered into the Valve workplace for a friendly chat with Gabe Newell as Minecraft neared beta, and found himself being interviewed for a position at the company.

Notch answered "politely but firmly, no" to joining the Valve family. He explains it was his hardest decision but that Minecraft was "maybe my chance to create a Valve".

The documentary on 'How Videogames Changed the World' from Charlie Brooker has just received a new teaser trailer. It's scheduled to air November 30th in the UK on Channel 4 at 9.00pm.

This new trailer looks at Minecraft with game designer Jeff Minter summing it up quickly as 'LEGO' for video games. They discuss how it's so unique in uniting people to build instead of destroy.

2 Player Production's documentary on Mojang's explosive entrance onto the gaming scene with little indie Minecraft all that time ago is now free to stream via YouTube, the home-away-from-home of Minecraft.

It's about 1 hour and 44 minutes long and chronicles the game's meteoric rise and how Markus "Notch" Persson put his crazy vision to work. Industry veterans give their two cents.

A bald-headed, fedora-wearing Swede on US TV? Must be Minecraft creator Markus 'Notch' Persson. The developer/Swedish indie (game) rock star was being interviewed on The Late Late Show.

That's the one hosted by Craig Ferguson. Notch, whilst sharing a feast of chocolate coins, discussed his little project Minecraft - heard of it? There's some Mario Kart in there too.

Mojang has announced that a new Halloween Texture Pack is now available for the Xbox Live Arcade version of Minecraft, which will be available from now through to the 4th November.
