Developer Slant Six Games of Resident Evil: Operation Racoon City has made redundant 26 of its 96 employees, meaning over 25 percent are let go from the Vancouver company.

The studio stress these are "temporary layoffs," as they work diligently on new business projects so they can "reinstate every single person affected." Their Resi Evil title sold 2m.

Sales for Street Fighter x Tekken have not been what Capcom thought they'd be, having sold 1.4 million units since its March launch, declaring sales "have fallen short of our plan".

They blame "cannibalism" as one of the primary causes, as other brawlers have released "within a short time" of each other. Meanwhile Slant Six was right for a Resident Evil game.

There have been some disappointing numbers from Capcom for the fiscal year ending March 31st, as revenue was down 16 percent to $1.02bn. Profits slimmed 13 percent to $84.2m.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City has moved good numbers despite critical reception. 1.7m units sold in Europe and the US, with 250k in Japan. It became Capcom's 25th best-seller.

Capcom has announced at Captivate 2012 that the Spec Ops downloadable content is beginning its release schedule for Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City tomorrow on Tuesday. The first DLC will be a free mission that lets players play as the good guys who are trying to discover evidence of a deadly viral outbreak in Raccoon City.

Data mining has revealed that Slant Six Games' Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City has a deep dark secret. Apparently it harbours scraps of the Star Wars universe, or at least Hoth.

Some loading screens have been uncovered that reveal artworks of Hoth with words like 'skirmish, 'tug of war' and 'Victory Class Star Destroyer'. They were stored in a 'Luke' folder.
