Rise of Nightmares demo now available on Xbox Live Marketplace

The demo for the Kinect-controlled survival horror game, Rise of Nightmares, is now available on Xbox Live Marketplace. The demo weighs in at a mere 334MB and can be downloaded directly from the Marketplace blade on the Xbox 360, or added to the download queue on Xbox.com here.

Dead Island remains UK chart topper, Space Marine keeps 2nd

Techland's Dead Island and Relic's Warhammer 40k: Space Marine have kept their number 1 and 2 spots respectively for another week in the all format UK chart.

Resistance 3 climbs up 3rd, nudging down Driver: San Francisco 4th. Deus Ex: Human Revolution stays at a conspiratorial 5th place. Zumba won't let go 6th.

SEGA's Rise of Nightmares is now out on Xbox 360 and Kinect in North America, and it's the first fully mature title for the motion platform as a horror game.

Producer Satoshi Ito "never thought" Rise of Nightmares would be the first mature though, as being controllerless Kinect "would match up well with horror".

SEGA's Mike Hayes has talked a little about their Kinect plans and it seems Microsoft's job of selling the motion platform to 3rd parties has done the trick.

They've "done a great job" says Hayes, and SEGA announced Rise of Nightmares at E3 2011 exclusively for Kinect. Going forward "we're using Kinect functionality".
