Harmonix has announced that after 275 consecutive weeks of releasing song downloadable content for Rock Band and its sequels, it'll finally be ending on the 2nd April.

The legal wrangling between developer Harmonix and entertainment company Viacom may have finally come to a conclusion, with the developer enjoying a windfall of cash at the end. An arbitrator has forced Viacom to cough up $383M to the Rock Band developer.

Plastic peripherals that ask you to tap a colour? No thanks, says Ubisoft. The publisher has announced Rocksmith which uses real electric guitars.

It's a game with "benefits" as it teaches you how to play a real instrument, and Rocksmith "adjusts gently" to your level of ability to help you learn.

Dance Central and Rock Band studio Harmonix is very interested in continuing to explore motion gaming, adding it's "safe to say" more will come from them.

There's a "cauldron of creativity" over at Harmonix boasted CEO Alex Rigopulos, and they've got "a lot of very cool new ideas" in the works beyond established IP.

Harmonix latest Rock Band Network iteration is almost here and they warn all in-progress RBN 1.0 works must be submitted to them by February 14th.

Once RBN 2.0 goes live you'll need a copy of Rock Band 3 to enjoy it as previous versions go unsupported joining Rock Band Weekly as RB3-only.
