Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 formally reveals, due for E3 appearance

City Interactive has formally announced Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 to the world. The Polish developer will be showcasing the sequel at this year's E3 in California.

It's an ambitious project as City licenses Crytek's CryENGINE 3 technology to develop the game, the same engine tech used in Crysis 2. It's due 2012 some time.

City Interactive announce that Sniper: Ghost Warrior has passed the one million sold milestone for the series, after combining Xbox 360 and PC sales.

This "bodes well" for the upcoming PS3 version which "adds a multitude of extras" exclusively to the SKU. A sequel to Ghost Warrior is already underway.

Polish outfit City Interactive has at least three projects on the go and two of them have been spilled as a WWII shooter and a sequel to Sniper: Ghost Warrior.

Now the third game in the works is called Alien Fear from developer Farm 51. It's a sci-fi shooter and it likely uses the Unreal Engine 3, not CryEngine 3.

City Interactive's chief producer Michal Sroczynski has revealed a full blown sequel is in the works for Xbox 360 and PC shooter Sniper: Ghost Warrior.

A PS3 version addressing the original's shortfalls is coming February. The second instalment will use CryEngine 3 and will hit all platforms.

City Interactive, developer of Sniper: Ghost Warrior, has licensed CryENGINE 3 for two new game projects due out over the "next couple of years".

The Polish studio understands "what gamers want to play" says Crytek's Carl Jones. No details on the unannounced titles have been teased.
