Report: As many as 30 staff laid off from Obsidian
It seems that Obsidian Entertainment has started cutting staff, and an estimated 20-30 persons have been let go. Much of the information is coming from those laid off themselves, as ex-members are tweeting about their release, while others are listing their termination from Obsidian on their LinkedIn resumes.

Obsidian CEO Feargus Urquhart reveals that it was Trey Parker and Matt Stone's South Park Studios, not publisher THQ, that took the idea of a South Park game to the RPG developer.
It was "kind of a big surprise," admitted Urquhart, and it was greating learning "how much into games they were." If they couldn't make it look like South Park, "then why make it."

As promised, the January 2011 issue of Game Informer's cover story, South Park: The Game, revealed a metric ton of information regarding the new collaboration between the creative duo Trey Parker and Matt Stone, publisher THQ and developer Obsidian Entertainment. This is the first game Parker and Stone have directly participated in, writing the script and the dialogue.

The newly announced RPG 'South Park: The Game' from developer Obsidian Entertainment, and TV series creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker, are being joined by THQ.
The publisher praised Stone and Parker as "arguably two of the most important comedic talents of their generation." THQ EVP Danny Bilson added this was a "dream-come-true."

Game Informer has revealed the cover of the January 2012 issue: South Park: The Game, which will be a "full-blown" roleplaying game published by THQ and developed by Obsidian for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Some information has been teased about the game. The player will be taking on the role of a kid new to South Park, Colorado, as the gang fends off a wide range of threats to the snowy town.
