Paul Meegan, current boss of LucasArts, admits they've not be doing the best they can when it comes to videogames, and he vows that will change in the future.

E3 2011 will play host to Star Wars Kinect and BioWare's MMO The Old Republic. LucasArts has "tremendous potential," with "beloved and powerful brands".

'Star Wars Detours' trademarked

LucasFilm has trademarked 'Detours' for use with Star Wars, which gives them ownership of the name for interactive entertainment products, aka videogames.

There's another filing though which suggests it could explode as a franchise, or at least expand into merchandising. LucasArts has a Star Wars Kinect game.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed III not cancelled, "figuring it out"

Project lead Julio Torres dismisses that Force Unleashed III is doomed spelling a new hope (get it?) that the series might get a third instalment.

While not wanting to reveal any spoilers, Torres does say there's plenty of room for more years between Episode III and IV to tap, likely by TFUIII.

Haden Blackman leaves LucasArts

Executive producer and writer Haden Blackman of LucasArts' Star Wars: The Force Unleashed franchise has left the studio after 13 years.

Blackman had a "fantastic time" at LucasArts he says, but now he wants to explore "new creative challenges". Game development unaffected.

Getting those big-budget ambitions green lit for Star Wars games is no easier after The Force Unleashed's success of 7m copies sold.

That's what exec producer Haden Blackman says, who is real busy with The Force Unleashed 2. They need "solid argument" every time.
