Nielsen: Assassin's Creed 3, Halo 4 the most anticipated games for US gamers

US media research group Nielsen is reporting that the most anticipated games for American gamers were Assassin's Creed 3 and Halo 4. Other games hotly anticipated include Madden NFL 13 and Resident Evil 6.

Square Enix's house of all things Lara Croft - Crystal Dynamics - has been joined by God of War director Cory Barlog. He'll be involved in a new Tomb Raider project in San Francisco.

There's also a "yet to be announced new title." Barlog was writer/director for God of War 2 and creative director for Chains of Olympus, and steered Ghost of Sparta's narrative.

The upcoming Tomb Raider reboot will be enjoying a worldwide release, as announced by Crystal Dynamic on the game's official site. If that weren't enough, development has hit a milestone, as the game has reached alpha status.

Tomb Raider developer Crystal Dynamics is teasing that the company is working on a new IP, alongside its reboot of the iconic third person action-adventure series. However, the developer refuses to reveal any details about the new game.

A reboot of Tomb Raider will be hitting sometime next year that will tell the origins of the iconic Lara Croft, portrayed as a 21 year old shipwreck survivor who becomes embroiled in what seems to be an occult plot.

There is also a live action film set for 2013, written by Iron Man writers Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby and produced by Graham King, who recently teamed with Martin Scorsese on Hugo.
