Saints Row IV and Splinter Cell: Blacklist keep UK chart lead

Volition's Saints Row IV is once again number one in the UK all format chart, followed by Ubisoft's Splinter Cell: Blacklist coming in second. Square Enix's Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn debuted 3rd.

Rayman Legends entered 6th, followed by EA Sports' Madden NFL 25 7th. Payday 2 has risen 9th from 18th. The Last of Us came 13th, and Tomb Raider 16th.

A big heist has been pulled off by Payday 2 as it raids UK gamer wallets to take the top spot in the UK all format chart. It knocks down Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition, which had enjoyed three uninterrupted weeks.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 sees a surge in sales by 60% to retake 3rd, while FIFA 13 sinks 4th. Naughty Dog's The Last of Us keeps hold of 6th, as Tomb Raider holds 9th.

Crystal Dynamics lays off 12 employees, "re-assesses" unrevealed project

Crystal Dynamics has confirmed that publisher Square-Enix has laid off "roughly 12" employees as it "re-assesses" an unnamed project the developer has been working on alongside the Tomb Raider sequel.

Square Enix has revealed that the next Tomb Raider instalment after the highly successful origin reboot has been in the works for some time. Square boasted they've "a number of next generation projects" on the go.

A comic is set to launch early next year which will "lead directly into the sequel", said writer Gail Simone in July. It steps away from the "claustrophobic story" of the game and goes "globetrotting".

Minecraft 360 beats off Pikmin in UK charts

Pikmin 3, the most highly-anticipated Wii U game - and perhaps the only AAA Wii U exclusive game left - wasn't able to capture the top spot in the UK's weekly game sales chart, as the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft took the top spot. It did manage to outsell The Last of Us, however.
