Torchlight reaches 1M sales
Runic Games has announced that Torchlight, the Diablo-like action dungeon crawler has sold over 1M units over the PC, Mac and Xbox Live Arcade platforms. The game received a boost during the Fourth of July celebrations with both a Steam sale and Xbox 360 Deal of the Week promotion.

Back in 2001 Blizzard North began work on Diablo III but it could have been a very different demonic beast that what it is today reveals Runic Games' Max Schaefer.

The Blizzard developers working on Diablo III enjoy playing Torchlight, and are looking forward to Torchlight II, reports Eurogamer. The team doesn’t feel threatened by the game – not from a “we’re too big to care” standpoint, but from the standpoint that they enjoy playing it and get inspired to make Diablo III better from it. It doesn’t hurt Torchlight was developed by the original Diablo team.

Fans of Torchlight will be disappointed to learn that Torchlight II has been delayed until July.
According to CEO Max Schaefer, it's to allow the Xbox Live Arcade version of the first game to breathe.
