Fans of Torchlight will be disappointed to learn that Torchlight II has been delayed until July.

According to CEO Max Schaefer, it's to allow the Xbox Live Arcade version of the first game to breathe.

Industry veteran Bill Roper formerly of Blizzard, Flagship Studios and Cryptic Studios, reveals he's still out there with "bigger PC console-type title pitches".

He's been "sitting on" them because money is "really tight right now" among publishers, particularly around MMOs. Roper wants "an exciting opportunity".

Blizzard's Diablo III will certainly steal the PC spotlight for action-RPG gamers, but Torchlight's Max Schaefer of Runic Games thinks it great.

He only sees it "as a good thing" for the genre, and therefore Torchlight 2. It'll "delay whatever we're working on", he jokes. The MMO is still planned.

Developer Runic has stated that there are "no PS3 plans to speak of" regarding PC's Torchlight headlining Microsoft's Xbox Live Arcade House Party.

Frankly the team is "a little relieved" they didn't opt for Xbox 360 and PS3 given "how much work" was involved. Torchlight is "nice and small" at just 200Mb.
