No Tribes: Ascend for consoles, "wasn't a clear path" at the time
The free-to-play antics of shooter Tribes: Ascend won't be hitting Xbox 360 or PS3 because when they looked into it there wasn't a way to pull it off "early on." This led to a sole PC focus.

Hi-Rez has sent a press release announcing that the developer is accepting beta applications for their online multiplayer shooter, Tribes: Ascend. The first phase of beta-testing will engage thousands of players worldwide.

Tribes Ascend developer Hi-Rez has stated that free-to-play gaming is "inevitable" on the Xbox 360, and that their shooter Tribes Ascend will hit the 360 when Microsoft allows it. Tribes Ascend has been in development for the 360, but when it went free-to-play, its release for the 360 became delayed indefinitely. Tribes Ascend will be released for PC this year.

Tribes Ascend was initially announced last March for both PC and Xbox Live Arcade, but since developer Hi-Rez has opted for a free-to-play microtransaction model, the XBLA version has gone to the backburner.
